BYD (HKG: 1211) launched the second-generation Seal 07 sedan in China on November 5, 2026, with official guide prices of 139,900 to 172,900 CNY (c. $20,828 to $25,741). Trade-in pricing runs from 135,900 to 168,900 CNY (c. $20,233 to $25,146), 4,000 CNY (c. $596) below each guide price for buyers who qualify.

The lineup has five versions: two DM-i plug-in hybrids at 139,900 and 149,900 CNY, and three battery-electric versions at 149,900, 159,900 and 172,900 CNY. That puts the electric car's entry guide price 20,000 CNY (c. $2,978), or about 12%, below the Seal 07 EV that arrived on March 5, only about eight months earlier.

The plug-in hybrid's starting guide price is also lower. It sits 9,900 CNY (c. $1,474), or about 7%, under the 2026 Seal 07 DM-i that launched in September 2025, and the DM-i range is cut from four versions to two.

BYD needed the reset. Across the Seal family, which includes the Seal 07 and sibling models, company sales were 46,834 vehicles in October, down 19.32% from a year earlier even after a 0.25% rise from September. For the first ten months of 2026 the family has sold 351,557 vehicles, down 14.85% year on year.

The Seal 07 itself has been a thin slice of that. Through September, the battery-electric Seal 07 had sold only 6,028 units for the year, including just 17 in September, and the DM-i had sold 6,189.

Both powertrains now share a larger body under BYD's Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design, aligned with the Seal 08. The car measures 5,080 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,495 mm high on a 2,960 mm wheelbase. That is 85 mm longer and 60 mm longer in wheelbase than the outgoing electric and hybrid cars; width rises by 50 mm on the electric version and 60 mm on the hybrid.

The electric versions use a rear motor of up to 245 kW and rear-wheel drive. BYD quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. They share a 76.744 kWh second-generation Blade Battery with flash charging and a CLTC range of 775 km (482 miles), up 70 km from the March car's 705 km. Combined consumption is listed at 9.8 kWh per 100 km, and a heat pump is standard.

The DM-i pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine of up to 115 kW with a 160 kW front motor and front-wheel drive. Electric range is 330 km (205 miles) on a 38 kWh pack, 100 km more than the outgoing hybrid's top figure of 230 km, and BYD quotes up to 1,700 km (1,056 miles) of combined range on a full tank and charge. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.7 seconds. With a depleted battery, NEDC fuel use is 3.3 liters per 100 km.

Driver assistance is where the lower prices show. The two higher-priced electric versions and the higher-priced DM-i come standard with God's Eye C, which supports highway and urban-expressway navigation assist. Those three versions can add the LiDAR-equipped God's Eye B package for city navigation assist. The two entry versions keep only basic cruise control and parking sensors, without God's Eye C or the option to add God's Eye B.

That is a step back from the outgoing DM-i, whose three lower-priced versions carried God's Eye C as standard and whose top trim had God's Eye B as standard. The new car's cheaper entry price therefore comes with thinner assist hardware on the base trims.

The chassis uses front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension. Most versions get the DiSus-C adaptive damping system; the electric flagship alone gets DiSus-M magnetorheological damping, which BYD has previously reserved for Denza and Fangchengbao models. The electric car offers a 618-liter trunk and a 160-liter frunk; the hybrid's trunk is 595 liters.

Inside, BYD fits a floating central screen, a digital cluster and a three-spoke wheel, with Devialet audio of up to 20 speakers on higher trims. Front seats can include massage, ventilation and heating, and the cabin offers three interior colors. Six exterior colors are listed, from green and pink to purple, silver, white and black.

The second-generation Seal 07 is BYD's bid to revive a slow-selling C-segment sedan by cutting the price, stretching the body and packing in flash charging and a longer electric range. Whether that is enough against crowded mid-size rivals will show in the first full months of deliveries.

Conversion rate: 1 USD = 6.7168 CNY as of November 6, 2026 (PBOC central parity).
