These terms apply to your use of GlobalChinaEV at https://www.globalchinaev.com (the "Site"). The Site is operated by GigaCharts Inc., 1724 Chemin des Patriotes, Sainte-Victoire-de-Sorel, Quebec J0G 1T0, Canada ("we", "us"). By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

1. What the Site is

GlobalChinaEV is a free news and analysis site about Chinese electric vehicle makers and their expansion into other markets. You don't need an account to read it. We pay for it with advertising.

2. Our content and your use of it

Articles, headlines, photos we own, graphics, charts, logos and the site design belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. They are protected by copyright and other laws.

You may:

  • read the Site and print or save articles for your own personal, non-commercial use;
  • share links to our articles, including through the share buttons on the Site (X, Facebook, Reddit, email, copy link);
  • quote short excerpts for commentary, criticism, news reporting, research or review, as long as you name GlobalChinaEV as the source and link to the original article. This is in line with fair dealing under Canada's Copyright Act and similar exceptions elsewhere.

You may not, without our written permission:

  • republish full articles or large parts of them, on another site, in a newsletter, feed or app;
  • copy our images, charts or graphics, except the share thumbnail the Site generates for you to share our article;
  • remove copyright notices or credits, or present our work as your own;
  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download the Site, or use our content to build a competing service or to train machine-learning or AI systems, except as allowed by our robots.txt file and by law;
  • use the GlobalChinaEV name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you.

Some photos and materials come from carmakers, agencies or other third parties and are credited in the article. Their owners' rights apply to those items.

3. News accuracy: no warranty

We work to report accurately and to correct mistakes when we find them. But the EV industry moves fast, and much of our reporting relies on company announcements, regulatory filings, media reports and other sources, often translated from Chinese. Prices, specifications, launch dates, sales figures, availability and policies can change or turn out to be wrong.

So the Site is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that any content is complete, accurate, current or fit for any purpose, or that the Site will always be available or free of errors or viruses.

4. Not purchase, financial or investment advice

Nothing on the Site is advice to buy, lease, import or sell any vehicle, or to buy or sell any shares or other investments. Prices converted into other currencies are estimates. Vehicles we cover may not be sold, certified or supported in your country, and rules on tariffs, imports, incentives and safety differ by place. Check with official dealers, regulators and qualified advisers before you make a decision. You are responsible for decisions you make based on what you read here.

5. Ads and links to other sites

The Site shows ads served by Google AdSense and links to other websites (for example, our sources and social networks). We don't control those ads or sites and aren't responsible for their content, products, or privacy practices. An ad or a link is not an endorsement. Your dealings with advertisers are between you and them.

We rely on advertising to keep the Site free. If we detect an ad blocker, we may limit part of an article and ask you to turn it off for our Site.

6. Newsletter

You can sign up for our free newsletter by entering your email address. We will send you a message asking you to confirm. After you confirm, we will email you news and updates from GlobalChinaEV. You can unsubscribe at any time at https://www.globalchinaev.com/newsletter/unsubscribe (and through the link in our emails). How we handle your email address is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Please only subscribe an email address that belongs to you.

7. Acceptable use

When using the Site, don't:

  • break the law or anyone else's rights;
  • try to get into parts of the Site or our systems you aren't meant to access, or interfere with how the Site works (including overloading it or probing it for weaknesses);
  • sign up other people for the newsletter without their permission;
  • use automated tools to generate fake traffic or ad clicks.

We may block access to anyone who breaks these rules.

8. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, data or opportunities, that come from your use of (or inability to use) the Site, its content, the newsletter, or any ad or linked site;
  • because the Site is free, our total liability to you for any claim related to the Site is limited to CAD $100.

Some places, including Quebec, don't allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded or limited, especially for consumers. Where that's the case, these limits apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that can't be waived.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Any dispute will be heard by the courts of the Province of Quebec, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will make it visible on the Site. If you keep using the Site after a change, the new terms apply.

11. Other

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, are the full agreement between you and us about the Site.
