XPeng Mona L05 undercuts its own pre-sale by 15,000 CNY, from 139,800 CNY

XPeng (NYSE: XPEV) launched the Mona L05 five-seat SUV in China on October 29, 2026, with official guide prices of 144,800 to 176,800 CNY (c. $21,568 to $26,334). Buyers who pay a 5,000 CNY deposit by December 15 get 5,000 CNY (c. $745) off, which brings the limited-time range to 139,800 to 171,800 CNY (c. $20,823 to $25,589).
That is well below where the SUV started two weeks ago. Each of the five versions shown at the October 15 pre-sale now carries a guide price 15,000 CNY lower than its pre-sale price, and XPeng added a cheaper entry version, the 560 Plus. With the launch discount, every carried-over version costs 20,000 CNY (c. $2,979) less than its pre-sale list price, by our calculation. That compares list prices. The pre-sale also let buyers put down a 1,000 CNY deposit (c. $149) that counted as 3,000 CNY (c. $447) off the car. XPeng says pre-sale perks can be combined with launch offers, so a buyer who put down the 1,000 CNY pre-sale deposit pays 3,000 CNY less than one who did not.
Buyers moved fast. XPeng had 5,000 Mona L05s built before the launch, and He Xiaopeng, XPeng's chairman and CEO, said the ready-to-deliver cars sold out; according to one report, XPeng's official mini-program showed them sold out three minutes after sales opened. Official deliveries begin on November 1.

Here is the full launch lineup at limited-time prices. The battery electric versions are the 560 Plus at 139,800 CNY, the 535 Max at 149,800 CNY (c. $22,312), the 635 Max at 159,800 CNY (c. $23,802) and the 635 Ultra SE at 171,800 CNY. The extended-range versions are the 1310 Max at 149,800 CNY and the 1310 Ultra SE at 161,800 CNY (c. $24,100).
The pre-sale had opened at 169,800 CNY (c. $25,291) for both the 535 Max and the 1310 Max, with the 635 Ultra SE at the top at 191,800 CNY (c. $28,568). Order-holders also get a package of limited-time benefits that XPeng says are worth up to 49,000 CNY (c. $7,298), for orders placed by December 15.
The electric versions use a rear motor of up to 183 kW and offer CLTC range of 535 km (332 miles), 560 km (348 miles) or 635 km (395 miles). XPeng rates combined consumption at 11.7 kWh per 100 km for the new 560 Plus. The 535 Max stays at 12.2 kWh, as at pre-sale, and the 635 versions are rated 12.6 kWh, according to the configuration sheet. XPeng says a 30% to 80% charge takes at least 15.8 minutes, with 10 minutes adding 285 km (177 miles).

The extended-range model pairs a 1.5-liter range extender with a 37.2 kWh battery. It has 310 km (193 miles) of CLTC electric range and 1,310 km (814 miles) combined, and XPeng quotes fuel use as low as 2.3 liters per 100 km on a combined basis and 5.26 liters with a flat battery. A 10% to 80% charge takes at least 14.7 minutes.

Driver assistance is the main difference between trims. Max versions get one of XPeng's in-house Turing chips with 750 TOPS of effective computing power and the second-generation VLA Lite model, while Ultra SE versions get two chips with 1,500 TOPS and the full second-generation VLA. The entry 560 Plus, at 139,800 CNY with the discount, has no Turing chip and one driver-assist camera instead of seven. XPeng says 91% of Mona orders are for versions with its higher-end driver assistance.
The SUV is also built for export. XPeng said on launch day that it developed the Mona L05 for 82 countries and regions, with 660 test cars across 25 countries and more than 5 million km (3.1 million miles) of testing. When global shipments began on October 26, it named a target of 65 countries and regions.
Left- and right-hand-drive versions were developed at the same time. XPeng has not given delivery schedules for individual overseas markets, so the export volume of the model is still an open question.

Inside, the Mona L05 has a 17.3-inch central screen and a 26.8-inch head-up display as standard. Three upgrades are paid options, according to the configuration sheet: a 20-speaker audio system at 4,000 CNY (c. $596), a rear entertainment screen package at 5,999 CNY (c. $894) that is not offered on the 560 Plus, and a front-seat upgrade package at 9,999 CNY (c. $1,489) that includes the zero-gravity front passenger seat. XPeng's launch announcement does not spell out which options its limited-time package covers. XPeng quotes 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 6.8 seconds and fits seven airbags as standard.
Safety features on the product page include a body structure that XPeng markets as 2,000 MPa-class, a battery protection system, driver incapacitation assistance, and tire blowout stability control.
The model is the third in a series that has become XPeng's volume line. XPeng said the Mona range has passed 360,000 deliveries worldwide in two years, an average of about 14,000 a month. The smaller Mona L03 collected 12,136 blind orders in Europe from July to September and began European deliveries on October 13.

It is a large car for the price. The Mona L05 is 4,870 mm long with a 2,940 mm wheelbase, and sits above the Mona L03 compact SUV launched in July. Its trunk holds 702 L, or up to 1,913 L with the rear seats folded. A ROAM styling package for the Mona L05 and L03 in silver is due to start deliveries in January 2027.

XPeng needs the volume. It delivered 41,256 vehicles in September, its highest monthly total this year and up 5.50% from August, but down 0.78% from a year earlier. Its January to September total of 284,367 was down 9.20%, even with a record third quarter of 118,390. On an earnings call in August, He said XPeng would aim to top 60,000 sales in a single month in the fourth quarter, with the G9L and Mona L05 as the new models behind that push.
October deliveries, due on November 1, will show where XPeng starts from; it delivered 42,013 cars in October 2025. November will be the first month with Mona L05 handovers, and the first test of whether the lower launch prices can close a gap of almost 19,000 cars a month to the target.
Conversion rate: 1 USD = 6.7138 CNY as of October 30, 2026.
