XPeng prices Mona L05 from 169,800 CNY as Q4 goal sits 18,744 above September

XPeng (NYSE: XPEV) opened pre-sales for the Mona L05 in China on October 15, 2026, with five versions priced from 169,800 CNY to 191,800 CNY (c. $25,370 to $28,660). The five-seat SUV is the last new model XPeng has lined up before a fourth quarter in which it is targeting more than 60,000 deliveries a month. That target sits 18,744 units above the 41,256 vehicles the company delivered in September.

The battery-electric 535 Max and the extended-range 1310 Max share the entry price. The electric 635 Max costs 179,800 CNY (c. $26,860) and the 635 Ultra SE 191,800 CNY, while the extended-range 1310 Ultra SE costs 181,800 CNY (c. $27,160). A 20-inch wheel and tire pack adds 6,000 CNY (c. $900) and a ROAM theme pack adds 9,999 CNY (c. $1,490). XPeng has not published pre-sale incentives. He Xiaopeng said on social media before the event that the L05 would launch formally this month, and the launch has been reported for October 29, a date XPeng's own website did not yet show.

XPeng pitches the L05 as a large five-seat SUV for young buyers. It measures 4,870 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,636 mm tall on a 2,940 mm wheelbase, which makes it 220 mm longer than the Mona L03, with a wheelbase 90 mm longer. Cargo space is 702 liters, or 1,913 liters with the rear seats folded, and the battery-electric versions add a 102-liter front trunk.

Every version uses a single 183 kW rear motor with 280 Nm of torque. The 535 Max carries a 58.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack rated at 535 km (332 miles) on the CLTC cycle, and the 635 versions use a 71.1 kWh pack for 635 km (395 miles). The extended-range cars pair a 1.499-liter range extender and a 42-liter tank with a 37.2 kWh battery, good for 310 km (193 miles) of electric range and 1,310 km (814 miles) combined. XPeng quotes 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.3 seconds for the 535 Max and 6.8 seconds for the rest, and lists at least 19.1 minutes for a 10% to 80% DC charge on the electric versions and at least 14.7 minutes on the extended-range ones.

Driver assistance splits the range. Max versions carry one Turing AI chip with 750 TOPS of computing power and run XPeng's second-generation VLA Lite model, while Ultra SE versions get two chips, 1,500 TOPS and the full second-generation VLA model. All five use seven driver-assistance cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors, and the configuration sheet lists no lidar. The cabin gets a 17.3-inch 3K center screen and a 26.8-inch W-HUD, while the 20-speaker audio system and a 17.3-inch rear entertainment screen are option packs whose final content XPeng says it will set out at the launch.

The L05 sits above the Mona L03, which went on sale on July 16, 2026, at 123,800 CNY to 156,800 CNY (c. $18,500 to $23,430), so the cheapest L05 costs 46,000 CNY (c. $6,870) more than the cheapest L03. The L03's domestic sales rose to 12,000 units in September from 8,424 in August, up 42%, while total shipments reached 14,215, including 2,215 exports. XPeng put the L03's September deliveries at more than 14,000 a day after its group release said more than 10,000, and the higher figure lines up with shipments including exports.

The L03's gains came as the older M03 sedan lost ground. M03 domestic sales fell to 5,553 in September from 8,374 in August, a 33.7% drop, leaving combined Mona domestic sales at 17,553, up 4.5% from 16,798. XPeng said at the pre-sale event that the M03 has led China's 100,000 to 200,000 CNY electric sedan segment for 24 consecutive months and that the Mona series has passed 350,000 cumulative deliveries in two years. August insurance registrations, the latest available, were 8,491 for the M03 and 7,083 for the L03.

The L05's closest in-house sibling by size now sells mostly abroad. The G6 managed just 257 domestic sales in China in September, down from 1,187 in August, while 3,699 of its 3,956 shipments were exports. That leaves the L05 entering the mid-size SUV class at home with little domestic XPeng volume to protect, but with the L03 sitting one rung below it.

Tesla's Model Y moved the other way. Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) posted 50,359 domestic Model Y sales in China in September, up 72% from 29,260 in August, on shipments of 62,948 that included 12,589 exports. Leapmotor's (HKG: 9863) C10 held steady, with 10,103 domestic sales in September against 10,200 in August.

Reaching 60,000 a month means adding 18,744 deliveries over September, a 45% rise, and XPeng has not yet given a delivery date for the L05. Its other new SUVs are already on sale. The G9L launched on September 17 at a limited-time price from 231,800 CNY (c. $34,630), and the GX delivered 7,224 units in September. He also told analysts in August that overseas L03 deliveries should lift XPeng's quarterly overseas deliveries above 40,000.

The L05 will follow the L03 abroad. Sven De Smet, XPeng Europe's head of brand and marketing, said at a Paris event on October 11, 2026, that the SUV will reach Europe in early 2027, where CEO He Xiaopeng said the L03 has drawn 12,136 orders since its July launch. XPeng has not given a European price or said where European cars will be built.

In September the L03 added 3,576 domestic sales while the M03 lost 2,821, so most of the new SUV's gain was offset inside the Mona family. The open question for the fourth quarter is whether the L05 brings new buyers to XPeng or mostly moves existing Mona shoppers into a bigger, pricier car.

Conversion rate: 1 USD = 6.6932 CNY as of October 15, 2026.
