BYD's (HKG: 1211) commercial vehicle sub-brand Linghui Auto on April 15, 2026 officially launched its first model, the Linghui e7, across five variants priced from 95,800 to 115,800 CNY (c. $14,000 to c. $17,000). The launch positions the e7 as a "large-space flash-charging mid-size pure electric sedan," targeting China's ride-hailing operators and daily commuters simultaneously.
Linghui Auto was unveiled by BYD in February 2026 as a dedicated sub-brand for the commercial vehicle market, designed to prevent the "ride-hailing car" label from weighing on BYD's Dynasty and Ocean passenger vehicle lines. According to CarNewsChina, the move allows BYD to target China's trillion-yuan ride-hailing and fleet mobility market through a standalone brand while those core lines pursue the upscale segment.

The e7 is not a simple rebadge of the BYD e7 but a deep platform customisation, engineered to a commercial-grade durability standard of 6 years or 600,000 km (373,000 miles) — alongside a design revision that relocates the charging port from the right front fender to the right rear quarter panel for easier access during commercial operations.

The five variants span a base 450 km (280 miles) CLTC-range entry model through to two flash charging-equipped 550 km (342 miles) variants. The 450 Launch Edition is priced at 95,800 CNY (c. $14,000), the 520 Advance Edition at 101,800 CNY (c. $14,900), the 520 Joy Edition at 107,800 CNY (c. $15,800), the 550 Flash Charge Leading Edition at 109,800 CNY (c. $16,100), and the 550 Flash Charge High Performance Edition at 115,800 CNY (c. $17,000).
Launch incentives include 12 months of free flash charging electricity for private buyers from delivery date, and 12 months of free flash charging service fees for ride-hailing operators on the two 550 Flash Charge variants.
The flash charging variants carry BYD's second-generation Blade Battery, enabling a 10% to 70% state of charge in five minutes and 10% to 97% in nine minutes. In extreme cold at minus 30°C, charge time increases by roughly three minutes compared to ambient conditions.

BYD states the battery passes 500-cycle flash charging needle penetration tests and four-node short circuit heat diffusion tests without fire or explosion, exceeding China's current national safety standards. As of March 5, 2026, BYD had commissioned 4,239 Linghui flash charging stations across China, with a stated target of 20,000 stations by end of 2026. The charging network is also operated in part with Didi, China's dominant ride-hailing platform.

Two motor configurations are available: a 100 kW (134 hp) unit for standard variants and a 130 kW (174 hp) unit for the flash charging models. The e7 measures 4,780 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,530 mm tall, with a 2,820 mm wheelbase. The 1,900 mm body width is above average for mid-size sedans in this segment, enabling a flat rear floor and three-abreast seating without shoulder intrusion — a specification the brand cites as a selling point for passenger comfort in commercial use. Three exterior colours are on offer: Mist Gray, Cloud White, and Cool Beige.

The e7 reached showrooms in 127 cities nationwide ahead of the April 15 launch date. Operator warranty coverage stands at 6 years or 600,000 km (373,000 miles) for the three core electric components, versus 6 years or 150,000 km (93,000 miles) for private buyers. All variants include two years of free cloud services, one year of free 5 GB monthly mobile data, and free OTA system updates.
With BYD committing to 20,000 flash charging stations by year-end and a launch price that undercuts most comparable mid-size electric sedans, the question becomes whether Linghui's commercial-first positioning can convert China's tens of millions of active ride-hailing drivers — or whether 95,800 CNY and a nine-minute top-up simply proves too compelling an offer for everyday buyers to ignore.
Conversion rate: 1 USD = 6.83 CNY as of April 14, 2026
