BYD's (HKG: 1211) premium brand Denza opened pre-sales for the N9 flash charging edition on April 7, 2026, pricing the large luxury plug-in hybrid SUV at 450,000 CNY (c. $65,600) to 500,000 CNY (c. $72,900).
The flash charging edition sits above the standard N9, which is currently priced between 389,800 CNY and 449,800 CNY. As is customary in China's automotive market, the confirmed retail price at launch typically comes in below the pre-sale figure.

The centrepiece of the upgrade is BYD's second-generation Blade Battery, which raises the pack capacity from 46.992 kWh to 75.264 kWh, paired with new flash charging technology. Denza states the system can deliver an adequate charge in five minutes and reach full capacity in nine.
Even at minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging time extends by just three minutes, made possible by an optimised battery thermal management system.

Under the CLTC test cycle, the model's pure electric range reaches 420 km (261 miles) — close to double the standard N9's 230 km (143 miles). The N9 is a plug-in hybrid, meaning total driving range including the combustion engine extends well beyond the electric-only figure.
Customers placing orders during the pre-sales period receive 18 months of complimentary flash charging, comprising a 12-month base allocation plus six additional months.
The N9 flash charging edition measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. Its exterior carries forward the standard model's closed front face and active grille, and is set apart by exclusive 22-inch mirror-forged wheels.

The powertrain combines a 2.0T engine purpose-built for plug-in hybrid use with Denza's e³ tri-motor system, delivering a combined maximum output of 680 kW. The claimed 0–100 km/h acceleration time is 3.9 seconds.
Chassis dynamics are managed through the DiSus-A intelligent body control system, which enables independent rear-wheel dual-motor steering, a 15-degree intelligent crab-walk mode and compass turns.

God's Eye 5.0 covers advanced driving assistance, backed by a sensor array of one lidar, 12 cameras, five millimetre-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors paired with an Nvidia Orin-X chip at 254 TOPS.
The model also debuts what Denza claims is the world's first new-generation AI intelligent cockpit, built around the brand's latest large-model AI platform. The cockpit is marketed as capable of understanding complex passenger commands and adapting to individual usage patterns over time.

The Denza N9 was last updated in September 2025 with the launch of the 2026 model year at an unchanged starting price. The flash charging edition constitutes a more substantial technical step, centred on the second-generation Blade Battery and a dedicated fast-charging infrastructure play.
Denza applied the same battery and charging technology combination to the second-generation D9 MPV, which opened pre-sales on March 29, 2026, suggesting the platform is now rolling out across the brand's key model lines.
China's large luxury SUV segment is increasingly using charging speed as a differentiator alongside cabin space and technology content. The flash charging edition is set to compete directly with the Li Auto L9 and the Aito M9 once it reaches the market.
Whether the premium over the standard N9 proves justified may depend as much on Denza's flash charging network rollout as on the hardware itself.
